When I was extremely anemic, I was eating a mostly vegetarian diet consisting of lots of vegetables, beans, fruit, and some dairy. Despite how many “iron rich” foods I ate, my anemia never went away. Later, I would learn that it is actually very common for vegetarians to have iron-deficiency anemia.
